DESCRIPTION
Wooden puzzle from the "Tarot Cards" collection. We have created this collection for Tarot card fans to experience new experiences when they puzzle over the picture of their favourite Tarot card.
Card description:
  • The Death Tarot card is one of the most misunderstood of the Major Arcana cards, often causing fear because of its name and imagery. However, its true meaning is much deeper and is usually associated with transformation, endings and new beginnings.
Appearance:
  • Figure: The Death card usually depicts a skeleton, often dressed in black armour, symbolising death itself.
  • The skeleton, as a symbol of the end of life, is often depicted riding a white horse, which represents purity and inevitable change.
  • Scythe or flag: The figure of death may hold a scythe, symbolising the cutting of souls, or a black flag with a white rose, signifying the beauty and purity that can come after endings and transformation.
  • Fallen figures: The corten often depicts people from all walks of life - the king, the pope, the common man - falling before Death, symbolising that Death is the great leveller who touches everyone, regardless of their status. Sunrise in the background: In many versions of the card, the sun is seen setting or rising in the background. This signifies the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth. The rising sun refers to the idea of new beginnings after the end.
  • River: Some images show a flowing river, symbolising the flow of life and the passage of time.
Symbolism:
  • Transformation and Change: the Death card is essentially about transformation. It represents the end of one phase and the beginning of another. It can be the end of a relationship, a job, a belief system or any other significant part of life.
  • Inevitability: Death is a natural part of life and an unavoidable force from which no one can escape. The card symbolises the inevitability of change and the need to let go of the old in order for the new to emerge.
  • Purification: The white horse or white rose on the flag often represents the idea of purification through transformation. It suggests that something pure and new will emerge after the end.
The death card, although often considered sinister, is actually a powerful symbol of transformation and renewal. It reminds us that endings are a natural part of life and that they offer space for new growth and possibilities. By embracing the changes that the Death card represents, we can achieve deep personal growth and new beginnings.
